different bit depths

What color depth is your display set to normally (ie what does 
Start->Settngs->ControlPanel->Display->settings tell you)?

I changed the line in startxwin.bat to look like this, and twm and KDE 
still
look funky.

start XWin -screen 0 1024x768x32
