cvs and proxy

Hi,
I'm a newbie ans I have been trying to compile XF4.0.2 on my WINNT4.

I can see in some FAQ that I need to use cvs in order to 
checkout xc/programs/Xserver/hw/xwin.

Unfortunately I can't get cvs to work maybe owing to a proxy server.

Do you have any suggestion?
