New User: Font probs.

Hi there all,

Sorry if this is in the FAQ (have requested it but am a little impatient).

I've just gotten xfwm (xfce3) running and find that I have no fonts. Memory from
bygone days says the fonts should be sourced from '/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts' which
exists and holds many fonts.

Is there a similar place for errors to be reported, the way XDM does? As this would
help in finding the fonts.

Basically I get a square or bunch of them for all the fonts in the pull-up menu's for
tool tips etc. The drop down menu's from the desktop are ok, but dialog boxes
have no fonts.

Any help would be appreciated, even a point to a relevant FAQ.
