Cygwin-xfree installation problems

Please check the xdm logfile (/var/log/xdm-errors) or start xdm in debugmode 
(xdm -debug 10). Maybe Something is wrong with the startup scripts, so
add a "set -x" at the beginning of the startup scripts (.xinitrc, .xsession)
and check their output in the xdm logfile.
