Cygwin-Xfree locks up after CDE login on Solaris 7

I have managed to work around this problem in a very convoluted manner (me
being the one who raised the original question that no one attempted to
answer). I have a Perl script that starts up Xwin locally and then telnets
to the Solaris server and starts Xsession, this seems to work. I have no
idea why I can't do this with XWin directly and have given up. You may need
to modify the script a bit to change the font server and stuff. You will
probably notice that the CDE splash screen is mangled but it does not seem
to cause a problem. I have attached the perl script for you and my .bashrc
just in case that is needed.

(See attached file: .bashrc)(See attached file: cde.pl)

Note that the xmodmap command in the Perl script is now performed on the
Solaris box as part of my logon rather than locally.

Subject: Cygwin-Xfree locks up after CDE login on Solaris 7

Hello all,

I'm new to the list and couldnot find an answer to this in any previous
posts (well, there was a similar post for Solaris 8, but it wasn't answered
in the archives)... I am using Cygwin-Xfree to connect to a Solaris 7
(CDE1.3) box. I have configured the font server properly so I now see a
CDE
login page, but once I actually log in, I see a typical CDE desktop, my
mouse seems to lock up, and my CPU starts to race at 99% on XWin.exe. If I
change the CDE login to OpenWindows, it works just fine. Is there
something
I'm missing?

Thanks in advance,
Randy
