MIT-SHM in Cygwin/Xfree86?

Yes, there is no default support because Cygwin does not support
SHM, by default.  You need to build it yourself, but the libraries and
clients
built with SHM support are unsupported by us.... in short you are on own 
if you run into some weirdos ;-)  Search mail archive, please, with the
keywords "cyyipc" and you will find a thread by me, Rob, and Alan on this
topic.
