X Server won't start on Wondows ME

Just out of curiosity - is your WinME an upgrade or a fresh install. I have
had problems when WinME is an upgrade from Win9X

Did you try DISPLAY=127.0.0.1:0.0?

It shouldn't make a difference but it should be worth a try
