mkpasswd

I am trying to use ssh to connect to my school server,
I got the error:
YOU DON'T EXIST, GO AWAY!

so I searched the mailing list achieve.  This
obviously have to do with configuration with
etc/passwd and etc/group...
but, I can't run mkpasswd to create them because I am
using winme and the user guide say it only works with
NT (and I tried it)

any fix?
