It seems as though the later cygwin releases fixed some of the problems,
but the other issues where how to get the linker to 'do the right thing'
with dllexport symbols using CONSTANT or DATA declarations. I ended up using 
the auto-import features, which work a treat.

I'll be trying it more extensively with the NativeGDI server, as running
two ico's with the shadow stuff is just too slow and jerky.
