I've sent you my known-good copy privately. In case something wacky is
going on I've included the binaries. It would be good if you can try
running the configure from there.

Last time I saw configure getting that sort of weird behaviour, I had
permissions problems with win2k and inherited ACL's I hadn't sorted out.
