XFig, faulty (e)ps export

Hi Cygwin users,
A while ago I installed Xfig 3.2.3c from Pierre Humblet's
site. In the mean time I have been drawing to my heart's content, but
exporting my fig files to eps, combined LaTeX/PS, etc. seems to fail in my
case. XFig does the export and creates the relevant files, but when I
open them, eg with Ghostview, I get the following error message:

I suppose I must have missed something in the installation
procedure, but unfortunately I cannot track the problem down. Is there
anybody out there with some suggestions?
		Cheers,
		  G.
