Do I need X11/R6....... on KDE?

Hello Gurus,

I have those X11/R6 binaries and am running them. Good stuff. Now, I am 
tempted to installed the KDE 2.2.1 on machine to have a try.

Question:
Do I still need X11/R6 X-stuff before I can use KDE? I would like to 
removed them if KDE runs without these X11/R6 binaries.... I am running 
short of disk space...
