remote xterm hangs when commands produce lots of

The only thing I can offer is it seems to happen when
lots of stdout output happens "fast".

If I do some shell command that produces a little
output, no problem. If I do some command that products
"lots" of output, really "fast" then the remote xterm
hangs.

Again I don't have this problem if I telnet into the
remote site with a local xterm and issue the same commands.
