How to off automatic detection of non-U.S. keyboard configurations ?

get the config file from http://www-user.tu-chemnitz.de/~goal/xfree/XF86Config.bz2
unpack it to /etc/X11/XF86Config and set the Option "XkbLayout" to "us"
