Doh.  I was hoping that if I saw the cygwin version from the cygcheck
output I would be able to figure out the stack dump but I've removed the
debugging version of cygwin 1.3.22 that I'd need to do that.

If you want to try the latest (i.e., the soon to be uploaded June 2
version) cygwin snapshot DLL and send the stackdump file again, I should
be able to say where it is dying from the hex address.
