what is the Status of Native engine?

Mike,

Nothing has happened in quite some time.

The version of the the Native GDI engine in the Cygwin setup.exe is not 
the most up to date.  There is a newer version in one of the branches of 
the 'xoncygwin' SourceForge project.  I make no promises that it still 
builds.  Also note that it is extremely slow and not complete.

Development may start on Native GDI again when some other easier 
features are complete.
