MITSHM disabled due to lack of kernel support

Hi,

I have a new high-end Dell PC (Dimension XPS gen3)
with RADEON X800 graphics card (ATI) running on XP
service pack 1.

On the newly installed cygwin/x system, my
XWindow/Motif application experienced very slow
performance compares to my other low end PCS.

In the message log from startx -
MIT-SHM extension disabled due to lack of kernel
support
   XFree86 Bigfont extension local-client optimization
disabled due to lack of shared memory support in the
kernel

Is MITSHM disabled the reason of slow performance?
How to fix the problem?

Bill
