X startup hangs

I've taken a look but can not find the start of cat.exe. Maybe this is 
from profile or login script. Anyway I think you should be able to start 

/usr/X11R6/bin/Xwin.exe -kb -clipboard

and then start xterm, or twm or anything else manually

export DISPLAY=:0.0
xterm 

or 

export DISPLAY=:0.0
twm
