Doug, that sounded like a reasonable idea. However, it didn't work for me. :)
I'm thinking that there exists some binding between the Xwin process and the terminal window that
started the process, and that perhaps I need to start it in a way (fork, etc.) that eliminates
this binding.
As I attempted to say, the bash process ($$) ends and Xwin lives on (both before and after I
manually close the window).
Thanks for the suggestion.
