Bold Double Strike vs. Bold different color

I am running xterm and I would like to use a different color instead of 
bold.  I have set all the options and I still get bold double strike instead 
of a different color.  Any ideas where to change this?  My cygwin bat DOS 
prompt works accordingly, but the xterm.
