Problem losing mouse pointer visibility

I am looking for any ideas on how to either resolve or debug this problem to
the next level. I am currently using 6.8.99.901-4 of XWin, although I have
had the following problem through several cygwin updates now.

I am using XWin to start an XDMCP session to an Ubuntu box running a GNOME
desktop via gdm. The current version of Ubuntu is 7.04 although I have had
this problem going against 6.10 and 6.06 as well.

Everything runs fine for me for some intermittent amount of time and then I
inevitably wind up losing the visibility of the mouse pointer in the X
server. Sometimes I can run for 2 days, sometimes only for 2 hours. I have
not been able to find a pattern of when this happens. The mouse if still
"functional" in that you can move around and click, you just can't see where
you are because it's invisible. This is only when the pointer is in the X
window, it I bring the mouse outside of X and back onto the window's desktop
or other window's application it reappears. Moving back over the X window
causes it to disappear again. If I kill the X server and restart it, things
will come up fine and work again for some random time before the problem
happens again.

If I ALT-F4 to kill the X server, I notice that the "Exiting will close all
screens running on this display..." dialog that pops up also refuses to show
the pointer, so it is as if there is some weird hide/show bug effecting the
XWin process.

Here are some system details. Please let me know if there is anything I can
try or any other data I can provide.

Thank You.

I start the X server using the command: XWin :0 -kb -clipboard -query
hostname

cygcheck -c:
