Unable to connect to an AIX server

I have an AIX server that I am trying to use CYgwin XFree86 Server on. When I connect I type in x -query <servername>. Where servername is the name of the server. On other servers we have no trouble but on this one we do not get the login screen only a gray screen with an X as the cursor.
 
Can you help?
