How to turn off text antialias ?

[xerces8]

Hi!
 
I use xorg-x11-base 6.8.99.901-1 on Win2000.
 
I find the text/font antialias blurry and want to turn it off.
How do I do that ?
The app is gaim running on a remote debian etch system.
