xterm and gnuplot errors

I get the following errors:
$ startxwin.sh
...
winClipboardProc - XOpenDisplay () returned and successfully opened the
display.
2 [main] xterm 2996 child_copy: linked dll data write copy failed,
0x2E9000..0x2ECF40, done 0, windows pid 3972, Win32 error 487
xterm: Error 29, errno 11: Resource temporarily unavailable
Reason: spawn: fork() failed
gnuplot> plot sin(x)
12103920 [main] gnuplot 1212 child_copy: linked dll data write copy
failed, 0x9B9000..0x9BCF40, done 0, windows pid 3184, Win32 error 87
OS Windows Vista SP1
I still get these errors after having done:
UAC off
Uninstalled Norton Internet Security 2008
Turned on the Windows Firewall
Installed AVG antivirus free edition
Turned off Windows Defender realtime protection
Attached cygcheck.out
These errors don't always occur. Sometimes the commands work and xterm
or the gnuplot window
appears. Also there are still references to Symantec in the Windows
registry.
How can I resolve these issues?
