white windows

Jon -

A technician helped configure Windows for the second monitor, and he
had me reboot the system. It was only the next day that I started an
ssh session with another server and encountered the white windows.  And
they were white both on the main monitor and when moved to the other
monitor.  I've been using -multiwindow for a long time.  That certainly
did not enable -multiplemonitors, or I would not have encountered the
problem.

FWIW my server is "Release: 6.8.99.901-4".  While chasing this problem,
I think I ran setup.exe to update the installation, but I'm not sure
whether the server got upgraded.

I'm guessing you are using -multiwindow mode.  In which case, the 
-multimonitors/-multiplemonitors should be on by default

Perhaps the problem you are seeing is that Cygwin/X doesn't know about
changes 
to the size of the Windows virtual desktop, so if you add an additional

monitor (or change your display resolution to a higher one) after X is 
started, windows moved into the added area of the virtual desktop don't
have 
any shadow framebuffer to store their contents, so are drawn white?
