xterm not working

  Gone for Thanksgiving break, return and update cygwin, and now xterm does not show anymore.  I have not upgraded to the latest 1.7 (I am waiting for the official release).  I read the other messages and nothing seems to work.  

  Does anyone have a SIMPLE solution to this problem.
