Hi,

I have some problems here. First, it was difficult to install, and several
times the install hung on the alternatives file. But I finally did get the
install completed. Even so, when I run

startx

I get the message 'fatal error has occurred'.

The detail is

started with command line: /usr/bin/X :0 -auth /home/paul/.serveauth.780
ddxProcessArgument - Initializing default screens
winIntializeDefaultScreens - w 1024 h 600
winInitializeEDefaulScreen - returning

Fatal server error:
Can't read lock file /tmp/.X0-lock

The computer is a Lenovo netbook running windows XP SP3

Thanks fodfr any pointers, help, etc.

-best regards
