xterm and font problems after last update

after last package update I noticed two issues:

on .XWinrc I was forced to change

from:
    xterm   exec    "xterm -fn 8x13 -fg white -bg black -display 
127.0.0.1:0.0 -ls /bin/bash &"

to:
    xterm   exec    "xterm -fn 8x13 -fg white -bg black -display 
127.0.0.1:0.0 -ls  &"

xterm dies immediately with the first invocation,
and enabling the logging I have:

    xterm: Cannot use '<F4><E5>#a<F4><E5>#a^P' as shell: No such file or 
directory

$ xfontsel.exe &
"Warning: Missing charsets in String to FontSet conversion"
