Pard me. His name is on the URL from which you downloaded Cygwin/XFree86
as one of the maintainer.

I did not find his reply as an insult to you. Sorry. His suggesions were
genuine that you need to do a complete install of Cygwin and then start
removing
the stuff you think is not needed. This way you will know what is breaking
you
application. I do agree with Rob that without Cygwin mount points you might
get
errors. You get error after you rename c:\cygwin to c:\cygwin.no? How
about
installing everything and making sure you have Cygwin mount points, then
remove
everything except cygwin1.dll, you application and libX11.dll, BUT leave
your
application in c:\cygwin\usr\X11R6\bin and Cygwin1.dll in C:\cygwin\usr\bin?
The project is called Cygwin/XFree86 because Cygwin is needed for X and dlls
to work
properly.
If your application needs only X11 Dll, and you do not need a complete
Cygwin1.dll
did you consider porting it using MSVC and using X11R6.5.1 libraries from
http://sources.redhat.com/win32-x11 ? This way you will not need cygwin1.dll
and
your application and reside on your PC whereever you dump it.
