Update On Cannot Open Display?

All,
        I recently (this past week) installed CygWin (1.3.1) and XFree86
(4.0.3) on my Win98 box.  I am also getting this error.  I have read through
the archives and as much as I can tell the thread died on April 21st.  Was
there a solution ultimately proposed that wasn't posted or is this still an
open item?  Thanks.
