There are several authentication mechanisms. The host based and a
ticket based. The hostbased is configured with xhost, /etc/X0.hosts
and the ticket based with xauth
see man Xsecurity for details.

Where is :0.0 not required? :0.0 names the port where the xserver is listening
for connections. :0.0 -> port 6000, :1.0 -> port 6001, :x.0 -> port 6000+x

no. But you can edit the startxwin.bat script.
