Xwin freezes when moving window on Solaris 10 host

I also have Cygwin installed, and use startxdmcp to access a solaris10 box.  
When running Gnome, moving a window will cause xwin to crash, and I have to 
kill xwin. I can generally move a window for the first few minutes without a 
crash occurring, but after that even clicking the title bar of a window causes 
a crash.
